ExCeL London opened in November 2000, in an area of huge regeneration in London’s historic Royal Docks. Today, the venue hosts 400 events per year, welcomes 4 million visitors from every corner of the globe, generates £4.5bn in economic impact for London and support 37,600 jobs. The venue caters for exhibitions, conferences, association meetings, congresses, product launches, religious and sporting events, and AGMs. It offers large, multi-purpose event halls, conference facilities and meeting as well as being home to London’s International Convention Centre (ICC), including the UK’s largest flexible auditorium with fully adaptable seating configurations for up to 4,500.
At the venue, you can have all of ExCeL in the size you choose. For smaller meeting space up to 1,000, there are there are numerous options, whether you are hosting conferences, team-building, graduate training, product launches or seminars. This space includes CentrEd, with its 29 meeting rooms, all with stunning views over Royal Victoria Dock. It also includes the Platinum Suite, a self-contained conference centre ideal for meetings, gala dinners, product launches and award ceremonies. Available for exclusive hire, across three levels, the Platinum Suite facility can be combined with the Event Halls and additional meeting rooms as part of a large-scale event.
ExCeL is located in London’s Royal Docks, within close proximity to the City of London and Canary Wharf. The venue is connected by the DLR to the Jubilee Line, river and cable car services and in the future, will be accessible by the Elizabeth line, reducing journey time to central London and connecting international visitors from Heath row and the west. International arrivals are also helped with London City Airport 5 mins away with access to domestic and international destinations. Onsite there is car parking spaces for over 3000 cars, and a range of on-site hotels and thousands of hotel rooms within easy reach, ranging from budget to five-star luxury. ExCeL London has over 40 on-site cafés, bars and restaurants.

You will benefit from an experienced onsite team, who will work to ensure your objectives are met. Our caterers, ExCeL London Hospitality (ELH), manage all catering in the event halls and conference areas. The team can also provide in-hall retail units and offer bespoke and flexible catering solutions for large events taking place in the event halls. Our onsite AV team can provide a complete solution for any audio-visual requirement, no matter how complex the brief. They can deliver bespoke solutions encompassing video, sound, lighting, creative design, scenic build and an array of unique innovations.

It is our policy to continuously evolve and implement practices that deliver economic security, social and environmental benefits. ExCeL’s CSR strategy focuses on three key areas: reducing waste, increasing energy efficiency, and working with our clients to deliver their objectives.
Unique to ExCeL is our onsite wormery. All vegetable food waste from the kitchens is diverted to our venue’s wormery, which contains over 300,000 worms and produces a soil additive which is used to maintain the site’s green spaces. ExCeL’s goal is zero waste to landfill – and we have designated bins across campus for plastic, cans, paper, cardboard and glass. We are also taking positive steps to reduce waste and have launched a ‘No Plastic’ campaign to outline our commitment to tackle this global issue. In 2014, we took steps to improve energy efficiency at ExCeL which included a lighting upgrade throughout the venue and car parks with an estimate that the energy consumption saving per fitting is 70%. In 2018 we were re-certified to both the ISO14001 environmental standard and ISO20121, which sets sustainability management standards in the event industry. This commitment allows our customers to confidently run their own sustainable events. ExCeL is committed to working in partnership with organiser’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives and can provide specific support to help deliver a more sustainable event.
It is clear that from global brand showcases to international association meetings and world-renowned exhibitions, events at ExCeL are thriving. Every year we bring together people from all over the world, to meet, trade and do business. Events at the venue experience an average visitor uplift of 15% and we work in partnership with the CVB, London & Partners, to deliver a seamless city-wide experience for organisers, exhibitors and visitors.
In my role as an Account Manager at ExCeL London, I work with agencies on a daily basis to propose our venue for a wide variety of events from product launches to Town Hall meetings and brand experiences. I love the social aspect of my job, especially networking, so in 2015 I created our ‘Great Agency Bake Off’, which has now become a well-loved annual event and a great way to spend time with my clients. In my personal time I love fitness, which I am hoping will bode well for me in the M&IT Agency Challenge!
